BOB SWEENEY - "MUSEUM QUALITY"
With the installation of Dave Gianakos’ model of the P-51D “Saucy Shirley” at the Spirit of Flight Center in Erie Colorado, (Investiture Ceremony will be at 11:00 AM, Sept 24, 2011) we can now declare our Bob Sweeney pilot figure “museum quality”! Check out Spirit of Flight Center's website --> Click Here.
Dave Gianakos, a master model builder, who has built models for the Smithsonian Air & Space museum recently purchased a Bob Sweeney pilot figure to go in his latest work of art, a 1/4.53 scale P-51. The model was created as a tribute to Dave’s good friend Col. Bill Getz (USAF, ret.), who flew the original “Saucy Shriley” out of Steeple Morden, England during World War II.
Dave was kind enough to send photos of the completed (sans 110 gallon drop tanks) model for us to use on this site.

What an outstanding model!!
To say that I am extremely honored that Dave chose the Bob Sweeney pilot figure to go in his tribute to Col. Getz, is an understatement!
